Competitive Markets – Team KPI’s and the Accountability Models

Effective management solutions for our business, product and service offerings can often be narrowed down to areas of conformance, monitoring and measuring the metrics of team development, reporting structures, accountability, market sector, business culture and the consistency in the organizations commitments.

The role of the project, program or portfolio manager can be at times, positioned as a contributor or evaluator tasked with identifying, monitoring, and confirming key performance indicators that are needed from stakeholders in order to meet the product development or project goals.

Contributors to these indicators are set to ensure the team, as well as tasks, stay on schedule and in line with the scope, schedule and deliverables, required to meet the organizations or project goals.

Competitive Markets Team KPI’s and Accountability Models allow a measurable and accountable method of evaluating a projects progression and team member engagement. They can measurably contribute to the organizations project or product based bottom-line and impact their strategic goals and directives.

Building the proper matrices that include all the tasks, skills and data needed, and understanding the “why” behind the requirements, is often as important as the members themselves. This approach can also be instrumental in the development of the individual contributor, as well as create an easily accountable system to respond to client demands.

To begin such an effort, incorporation of a simple, yet effective evaluation process, procedure or “checklist”, coupled with a stakeholder requirements accountability matrix, can significantly streamline the task. The matrix can include the requirements of the project or needs for product development and help in clearly defining expectations while maintaining a level of consistency.

Utilizing a RACI Chart (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) or responsibility assignment matrix can assist in establishing this model.

Done with the intention of creating a well -balanced workplace, balanced work distribution and team member engagement, allows the group to focus on the organizations development, meeting the goals of the client and result in the successful undertaking of your organizations management of projects.

The shared sense of accountability, fairness, responsibility, teamwork and accomplishment can set an organization miles ahead of the competition in project and product delivery and methodology implementation in the future. NFB
