Organizational Operations, Process and Logistics Improvement: When We Know What the Problem Is, But Don’t Want to Say It
If you are engaged or involved in a career choice that keeps you inspired, developing, learning and contributing to the economy, you have probably been presented with or encountered an issue, challenge or “problem” to solve or assess either independently or with a team.
Although moments like this are not typically “looked forward to” they can and often occur and as practitioners we are tasked with asserting, solving and addressing its criticality and impact.
Project related work often has a plethora of systems and a multitude of stakeholders and end users all collectively creating a “shared set of rules, beliefs or attitudes” that soon and quickly becomes a project culture.
A similar protocol is established with product/process related work in which titles, responsibilities and accountability falls under each as a requirement of the positions’ job duties.
Project work issues and problems, their identification, resolutions and the process of addressing those issues are often(should be) defined in our company or project operating and employment manuals which typically(should) offer a systematic approach to resolving or improving the circumstance encountered.
But what happens upon following those directives, asserting the issue and utilizing the approach? What happens, if nothing does? What happens if no solution is offered or the issue and its gravity ignored?
What happens When We Know What the Problem Is, But Don’t Want to Say It? What happens when no one is willing to “say” or “address” it? What happens when the messenger is sacrificed for the organization or the team?
How do we as practitioners keep ourselves, our colleagues, teams and projects … S.A.F.E.?
